The music ministry at Pebble Hill has been led for nearly thirty years by Bette Kahler, our organist/choirmaster. A wonderful adult choir of some 25 voices leads us in worship each Sunday, sharing anthems and responses that are moving and inspiring. Major musical presentations, often with guest musicians, are offered at Christmas and Easter. Our pastor regularly shares his singing voice during worship, as cantor and soloist, as do others in our congregation, youth and adult, who are gifted singers and instrumentalists. An adult bell choir and a children’s “chimes” choir performs several times during the year. |

Carrie Wilson joined our staff in January, 2004 as our Children’s Music Director. The Children’s Music Program is held on Sunday mornings from 11:00-12:00, following the Christian Education time for younger children, and during Christian Education for adults and youth. In addition to singing, children are taught to play chimes, and they share their talents in worship several times each year. For three years Pebble Hill has had a Jazz Vespers Series. Working together with the Central New York Jazz Arts Foundation, these services “swing to the Lord” with members of the CNY Jazz Orchestra and guest vocalists. All are welcome to these services. There is no admission charge, but donations are accepted. A number of musical groups and organizations from our community hold their rehearsals, concerts and recitals in the Pebble Hill sanctuary, noted for its wonderful acoustics. These include Schola Cantorum, Syracuse Vocal Ensemble, and CNY Music Teachers Association competitions and recitals.
“Doors to Music,” a music skills and appreciation program for young children and parents is housed at Pebble Hill. The director of this popular program is Richard Holmquist, who can be reached through the church phone number - 446-0960. |
